National History

Phi Sigma Rho is a national social sorority for women in engineering and engineering technologies. Abby McDonald and Rashmi Khanna founded Phi Sigma Rho at Purdue University in 1984. They created the sorority for women who are interested in being a part of greek life, but have demanding engineering schedules. The sorority was founded on September 24, 1984 based on a balance of sisterhood and academic success. The Alpha chapter at Purdue originally had 10 members and now the sorority has grown to 34 chapters and 4 colonies. The organization focuses on the ideals of friendship, scholarship, and encouragement.

Alpha Delta Chapter History

The Michigan State University Alpha Delta Chapter of Phi Sigma Rho was installed on December 1, 2012 with 40 members. The four sisters who founded our chapter are Rachel Kurzeja, Jena Laur, Krista Lueck, and Sarah Steudle. Our membership has grown to 84 active members as of April 2016 when the Iota class was initiated. We are looking towards the future while strengthening our bond of sisterhood.
